貝多芬音樂節 Basically Beethoven Festival

華裔鋼琴家隆愛真，將在「貝多芬音樂節」(Basically Beethoven Festival) 中，應邀參加演出，其時間為七月十三日週日下午三時，地點在達拉斯植物園(Arboretum)。這是達福地區暑期的重要音樂活動，將由達福兩家交響樂團團員為主幹，邀請音樂界名流參加演奏。隆愛真今年是第三次參加。這音樂節原是效法紐約的「莫扎特音樂節 Mostly Mozart Festival」的盛舉。該音樂節每年暑假在林肯中心舉行，已有32年的傳統。達福地區的音樂節則有28年的歷史，均有盛名。紐約的音樂節固定在繁華的市中心，林肯中心舉行。達福地區的音樂節,今年將在達拉斯東郊的植物園,位於白石湖邊風光優美幽靜，在綠地鮮花中還可欣賞音樂演奏甚是宜人。

這音樂節在七月間的每週日舉行，隆愛真則在第二場，與俄裔大提琴家安設維奇(Yun Anshelevich)同台演出，合奏貝多芬，拉赫曼尼諾夫等人的作品。此外隆愛真還獨奏李斯特，杜步西和麥克道爾( Edward MacDowell) 的名曲。這三位音樂家曾在十九世紀末互相認識，並頗富名聲，尤其麥克道爾為第一位成名的美國作曲家，年輕時在巴黎音樂院與杜步西同學過，後來他在德國深造，當時有音樂界教父之稱的李斯特，曾對這位年輕而鋒芒畢露的他印象頗深，引介大樂譜出版商Breitkopf&Bartel發行他的作品。這三位音樂家的因緣頗耐人尋味。麥克道爾在歐洲成名後回美，與波士頓交響樂團定期出演，並在1896年出任哥倫比亞大學音樂系首任系主任，造就人才。不幸因病早年夭逝。其管絃樂作品與鋼琴曲，流傳甚久。布蘭諾鋼琴教師協會，今年春天曾邀隆愛真介紹並彈奏麥克道爾作品，給人深刻印象。這回藉著美國國慶期間在大眾面前演奏，藉以推廣第一位享譽世界聲譽的美國音樂家作品，頗有意義。

隆愛真的鋼琴獨奏曲目，包括李斯特的「鐘」( La Campanella),杜步西的「金魚」(Goldfish)及麥克道爾的「憂傷的圓舞曲」(Valse Triste)和「女巫之舞」(Witches Dance)。

Bruce Wittrig - Dallas Symphony violinist, violist Dmitry Kustanovitch and cellist Nicole Hansen Strydom – both members of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and pianist Christina Long will perform Brahms' Quartet for Piano and Strings No. 3 in C Minor, Opus 60 ("Werther"). Laurie Shulman, program annotator for the Dallas Symphony will provide pre-concert commentary about the importance of this work in the chamber music literature.

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) began composing this work during a difficult period for him and his friends Robert and Clara Schumann. When Robert entered a mental asylum, Brahms attempted to provide moral support for Clara and her children. However, Brahms' own emotions were extremely strained due to his affection for Clara herself. In a letter to a friend, he described the first movement of this work as a sort of musical corollary to the suicidal desperation of Goethe's Werther. This comment resulted in the quartet’s common subtitle “Werther.”

The National convention of National Association of Composers USA is going to be at Dallas on May 20. There will an evening concert as an culmination of the whole-day event. This concert is a collaboration of living composers and instrumentalists from around the country.

The composers are from Dallas (Wieslaw Rentowski), New York (Carson Cooman, I-Uen Hwang), faculty of UCLA (Daivd Lefkowitz) ), UT at San Marcos(Dimitar Ninov) , UTD (Robert Rodriguez), and Southeastern Oklahoma State University (James Wintle) among others.

The featured artists includes the Long Duo -- Beatrice and Christina Long, one of the most sought-after piano duos in North America, Luca Bruno (piano, SMU), Mitch Weverka (guitar), Karen Lim (violin), Joel Adair (trumpet), Jason Hausback (trombone) Drew Lang and Greg White (percussion).

Yuri Anshelevich in Recital at Preston Hollow Presbyterian

Russian-born cellist Yuri Anshelevich, Associate Principal Cellist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, will present a free recital at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening, March 30, at 7:00 p.m. Accompanied by pianist Christina Long, the program will include works by Brahms, de Falla, Schumann and Shostakovich.

Accepted to the Moscow State Conservatory at the age of fourteen, Mr. Anshelevich graduated from there with highest honors. He also won
First Prize in the Cello Division of the All-Russian Competition. He studied with Mstislav Rostropovich. Since then, he has won wide critical acclaim for concert and recital performances the world over. He is often described as a performer of power, imagination and vitality.

The program is a part of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church's Concert Classics series. There is no charge for admission, but donations are gratefully accepted to assist with the expenses of the concert. You are welcomed to an evening of cello and piano music. The associated principal cellist of Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Yuri Anshelevich, and Dr. Christina Long are going to present a concert at 8 PM at Preston Hallow Presbyterian Church on March 21 (Wednesday). The concert is free admission. The program includes music by Bach, Beethoven, Prokofiev and Debussy.

Graudated from Moscow State Conservatory, Yuri Anshelevich made his recital debut at the age of 9, received First Prize in the Cello Division of the All-Russian Competition, which led to studies with world-famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. Active as both a soloist and chamber musician, his repertoire includes every major work written for cello. He and his wife, Olga, have one adult son, Leonard.

The winnder of Piano Duo Competition of National Federation of Music Clubs, Christina Long has served as Assistant Professor of Music of Westfield State College, Westfield, Massachusetts and Tabor College, Kansas and the artist-in-residence in Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Her concert appearances included a sold-out Carnegie Weill Recital Hall recital, Lincoln Center of New York, Meyerson Hall of Dallas, Washington DC, Canada, Taiwan, China and Poland.

師承沃登斯基、維亞爾多、徐頌仁、卓靜純(隆氏姐妹之母)的隆愛真，畢業於北德州大學音樂博士班，並獲得該校「最佳論文獎」及「最佳演奏獎」。她曾是美國東南州立奧克拉荷馬大學的駐校藝術家，並於堪薩斯州泰博學院與麻薩諸塞州西原州立學院擔任副教授多年。近年來，隆愛真與亞裔美國青年管絃樂團於達拉斯邁爾遜音樂廳演出，也與達拉斯室內樂團合作。她曾獲得的大獎包括金斯維爾國際青年演奏家比賽、夏曼交響樂團獨奏比賽的首獎，以及米德蘭奧德賽交響樂團舉辦的全國青年藝術家比賽等。

除了致力於獨奏及雙鋼琴的事業發展，隆愛真還活躍於室內樂、現代音樂以及其他領域，也曾在美國與台灣演出。在波蘭，她的演奏被稱為「充滿難得的靈活性與音色、明確的韻律感和創新的想像力」。日前，更為台灣十方書有限公司翻譯FranzMohr所著的《與鋼琴大師為伍》。

畢業於寇帝斯音樂院的隆信真，師事賀蕭斯基、富萊雪、傅聰、葛拉夫等名師。她曾是克里夫蘭國際鋼琴大賽、卡薩德煦國際鋼琴比賽、青年鍵盤藝術家協會國際比賽的贏家，個人演奏的足跡遍及中美洲、東南亞、法國、比利時、瑞士以及美國各地，令人矚目的表演經驗則包含芝加哥拉維尼亞夏日音樂節、法國楓丹白露音樂節與台灣的總統府音樂會等。另外，她也曾與許多知名樂團合作，如巴爾地摩交響樂團、墨西哥國家交響樂團、台北市立交響樂團、法國茱拉交響樂團、拉瑞多交響樂團、紐約阿姆斯特丹管絃樂團等。她的演奏猶如美國雜誌《唱片指南》所形容的「在許多層面都有令人驚訝的表現」！

享譽國際的華裔雙鋼琴家隆信真與隆愛真，1997年榮獲美國音樂協會聯合會舉辦的全美艾利斯雙鋼琴比賽首獎後，隨即又獲得美國現代作品的最佳演奏獎，樂評家並以「成功結合音樂意義、精準技巧與高尚透明度的演奏」高度讚揚隆氏姐妹。此後各方邀約不斷，每年於全美各地、歐洲、亞洲舉辦的音樂會超過三十場，至今持續創造許多精采演出紀錄，以及電台的轉播與報導，包含知名的國家公共廣播電台與達拉斯WRR古典音樂台。《華盛頓郵報》更讚賞「隆氏姐妹開創了雙鋼琴演奏的新境界」。
